Smoothies!!

We love smoothies around here! If you've never had a green smoothie, you're missing out! It's a tasty, easy way to pack lots of nutrients into a meal or snack! Here's how I usually make them.

Fill up a blender with fresh, organic spinach. In our blender this is 6 cups.

Add a little liquid. I usually use apple juice or orange juice. Today I'm using coconut water to see how that works. I put in 1-2 cups of liquid.

Blend it up until it looks like this.

I like to blend up the spinach first until it's liquified because that way you don't get little flecks of spinach that get stuck in your teeth. I know others blend everything at once. They must have better blenders than we do (not that that's hard to do, ours is just a basic, cheap blender, but it works).

Add fruit, yogurt, whatever you have. Here are things we've put in smoothies before:

-Greek Yogurt
-Bananas (fresh or frozen)
-Berries (fresh or frozen)
-Peaches, nectarines, or mangoes (fresh or frozen)
-Pineapple (fresh, canned, or frozen)
-Avocado
-Ground Flax
-Peanut Butter (only with bananas, it might taste weird with this other stuff, but you're welcome to give it a shot. Also, we don't do this anymore because of Little Miss's allergies)
-Protein Powder (Mr. M does this. I don't do protein powder.)

Today we're adding:
-1 container of Greek Yogurt. We use the flavored kind because we like it better.

-2.5 cups of Frozen Berries

-1 Tbsp. Ground Flax

Blend it up until you reach the desired consistency. Ours made about 4 cups today, which is perfect for the kiddos and me!

Please don't add sugar. I promise it doesn't need it! Enjoy!

Your kids will love them!!
We have these for breakfast sometimes or as a drink with lunch or as an afternoon snack. They're very versatile! And delicious!
